About to try...

This week I am challenging myself to try something a bit different for me, some product photography. I am not good at setting up still-life type photography, which is sort of what I need to do.

I need to photograph some of my knits, both for my own records and to post some of them online to sell. I also need to photograph all of my shawls so I can put the photo with the shawl when I have them at a show. Somehow a shawl just doesn't look as pretty as it is when it's folded on a table.

This week I will be begging friends and family to model for me, trying new ideas, improvising props, and just generally trying to get lace to show up and look as beautiful as I can in a photograph. If anyone has ideas on props, cheap ways to create a head bust to show hats/headbands on, or how to display and photograph shawls, I would love to hear them! Please post a comment with suggestions, I'm willing to try them out!

Photo-free week, unfortunately

I am getting ready to do a craft show with hand knit items, and so it's been a photo-free few weeks. Tomorrow is the show, at John Knox Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids, MI should you be interested in going!

Hoping it will be a great show, and I will be taking photos of my booth and some of my knits while I set up. In the meantime, here are some iPhone shots of some of my knits. I'll be trying out my Square reader while there, hoping that accepting credit cards in addition to cash will help boost my sales!
