I took this photo a couple of weeks ago, while on a date. We were at the mall's food court for dinner before going to see a movie, and there's a carousel there. When we finished dinner, my date excused himself for a minute, and while I was waiting for him, I happened to look up and notice the reflections of the carousel lights in the skylight glass...
I obviously didn't have my camera with me, but I did have my iPhone. Who needs a camera on a phone? Me, that's who! Here's the one shot I got, a little blurry but the carousel was in motion and I wasn't actually focused on that anyway!

Finally, an update!
I am completely slacking on this blog, sorry about that!
I had a senior portrait shoot last weekend. Winter in Michigan means the weather could be anything from ice-cold freezing rain or blizzard conditions to well, what it was last weekend... cool, overcast, but warm enough to be comfortable outside and not need full winter gear. Thank heaven for that!
We headed to downtown Grand Rapids and the riverfront by the Ford museum and Grand Rapids Public Museum. The lack of color in the trees was made up for with the blue bridge and the amazingly green grass, as well as the bright red button sculpture in the park. Miss Clark was at the tail end of the flu, so the warmer weather was truly a blessing.
Here are a few shots from the day, enjoy!

About to try...
This week I am challenging myself to try something a bit different for me, some product photography. I am not good at setting up still-life type photography, which is sort of what I need to do.
I need to photograph some of my knits, both for my own records and to post some of them online to sell. I also need to photograph all of my shawls so I can put the photo with the shawl when I have them at a show. Somehow a shawl just doesn't look as pretty as it is when it's folded on a table.
This week I will be begging friends and family to model for me, trying new ideas, improvising props, and just generally trying to get lace to show up and look as beautiful as I can in a photograph. If anyone has ideas on props, cheap ways to create a head bust to show hats/headbands on, or how to display and photograph shawls, I would love to hear them! Please post a comment with suggestions, I'm willing to try them out!

Photo-free week, unfortunately
I am getting ready to do a craft show with hand knit items, and so it's been a photo-free few weeks. Tomorrow is the show, at John Knox Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids, MI should you be interested in going!
Hoping it will be a great show, and I will be taking photos of my booth and some of my knits while I set up. In the meantime, here are some iPhone shots of some of my knits. I'll be trying out my Square reader while there, hoping that accepting credit cards in addition to cash will help boost my sales!

Waiting....
Still waiting to see how my entry into the World Wide Photo Walk measures up with the other entries... I really am not a patient person when it comes to stuff like that. Once a deadline has passed, I'm ready to see results, right now.
I have no idea what others' have submitted, we can't see them until a winner has been chosen. I'm sure there are going to be some awesome entries. I'm very happy I am not the one that has to choose just one, it's hard enough choosing which of mine to submit!

Sumbission...
I finally decided on which photo to submit for the Photo Walk contest... It was hard to decide, but the one I chose was one I just couldn't stop returning to. It drew me in from the moment I took it, and through every edit and narrowing of the choices, it just called to me.
I have the day yet to change the submitted photo, should I want to (it would shock me if I did)... I will show you the photo I chose next week. For now, enjoy the two that didn't get chosen in the final cut!

World Wide Photo Walk 2012
This year I signed up for the Lansing, MI photo walk in order to spend the afternoon with my son, currently away at MSU and also an avid photographer.
The day was cold and rainy, and I debated on calling first to see if he still wanted to go or not, and ended by deciding that even if we didn't do the photo walk, we could at least have dinner together and visit. When I got to his dorm to pick him up, we decided to go ahead and do the walk. I'm glad we did! We had a great time together in the rain and met several other wonderful people who also braved the rain.
While the weather might not have been perfect, all the company was! Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day...
